    Re: Did BI resign???

This situation is beyond ridiculous! The Superintendent should have had a meeting with BI and discussed this issue way before it got to the point of him stepping down and then going to the press. Surely they could work this out one way or another and get him back to running the program. Once BI stepped down did Central open up the position to outside applicants or just hire from within? This program has improved quite a bit since Saunders took over but it only takes one bad coach to go back to averaging one or two wins a year. Jason Mullins' record is not very impressive. Does he keep the job after this year or do they look for someone with better credentials?
The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.

I wouldn't hold Mullins record against him to be honest.

I must say though, there have been a lot of odd coaching situations this summer in the area.

    Re: Did BI resign???

I'm not sure where people were thinking Central was going to be competitive in football. It's a combined school yes, but neither of the schools that combined had won a playoff game since Pound when to the state finals over a decade ago. As for the BI situation, I feel bad for the kids; losing a coach two weeks before practice can not be a good thing. Hopefully the folks at Central will give Mullins time to see what he can do, before this happened I had them penciled in to finish last in the LPD and this will only make things worse I'm afraid, simply due to bad timing.

    Re: Did BI resign???

Well spoke to an individual with detailed knowledge of issue. Said BI was issued a gas key by Principal Collins to use for moving equip, BI told him he had to use a non WCSB truck to go to Maryville for this equip.A SB member was informed of BI filling a personal vehicle on the school pumps asked to see the camera footage, he then told Mr. Perry that was stealing and to take care of it. He didnt like being labeled a thief as this was last straw for him, he has had issues with things and felt best to resign even though someone wanted to fire him for the gas and might still try to press charges, even though BI informed his Boss and was okayed by Mr. Collins.

    Re: Did BI resign???

    slight problem there.
    No, HUGE problem there.

He didn't like being labeled a thief - seriously? Who cares? You're doing something you have the OK for, KNOWING that it looks bad to anyone not in on it (which is why you got the OK to start with), and then you don't like when someone reports it? The LAST thing he shoulda done was resign. Hasn't he ever heard of "a teachable moment"?

I'm sorry, but this really just sounds like an excuse.

Maybe some things have happened in the past, but you don't resign when you're right... that lets the guy/s in the wrong win.

Here's what I was thinking yesterday... and I hope I'm wrong... did the Pound parents strike again???

I think you hit the nail on the head. I think that some pound folks got involved and are trying to start trouble.

    Re: Did BI resign???

The thing is, if the Pound parents were in on this, do you think they would have stopped at Mullins getting the job since they already ran him out of Pound before?

Call it "sabotage" stripes. Some of those people are out for nothing but to bring the whole school system down, no matter who gets hurt.

    Re: Did BI resign???

    well, that would explain it.
Any good coach would know he can't run a program if the parents have more say than he does.

    Re: Did BI resign???

Put it this way, the "good ole boys" club at Pound don't like Mullins, but they absolutely hate B.I. I would not put it past any of them.
